Two downsides to a windshield mounted bimini. 1. You can't fold it forward when not in use. It's either up or folded back which gets in the way. 2. The brackets on the top of the windshield can cause wear spots on the cover.

Deck mounts can be installed to fold in front of the windshield when not in use and the brackets shouldn't touch the cover at all.

Just a personal preference but I have installed and used both types and prefer the deck mounts for the reasons listed. As far as putting holes in the boat, this shouldn't be a problem if done properly. (champfer the screw holes) There's a bunch of items already screwed to the boat. Again, personal preference.

Can i get a picture of yours? What brand?

Not soon. I'm out of the country for a couple weeks. I'll be happy to send some pics when I get back but I don't know if I have any close-ups. It is a Sunbrella bimini.
