Water ingestion into cylinders from wake surfing

Recommended Posts

I have hear this too. Didn't indmar come out with an engine to compensate for this? I think it was called the surf 345 or something to that effect? I'll have to look it up. I thought they won an award with ithttp://www.wakeboardingmag.com/news/2011/10/18/new-indmar-and-supra-engine-wins-innovation-award/

The fact they developed an engine has me wondering. Are we really stressing our motors that bad and causing oil flow problems? Or that a clever marketing gimmick?

The previous Owner of our 2000 response had a problem when they started wake surfing and water was entering through the gas vent right in front of the gas cap. It happened a number of times, with them hauling the boat to the dealer before they figured it out. They ended up blocking that vent and adding a new one further up the hull and never had a problem since.

My first boat I'd run in salt, and had an issue that salt was getting into my fuel. Turned out to be water getting in through the vent. I didn't even surf then. Would just take big rollers from the side vs the nose to keep from getting swamped. Dealer took care of the issue, but I take rollers from the front now, and do not use in salt anymore either
