Ski lake design, maintenance and dam issues

Looking at a possible ski lake that has issues. Needs to be dredged and may have some dam seepage issues. Anyone have any experience with building/maintaining a lake? In particular, how much seepage is to much, and what is the best way to increase depth?

PM me, if you don't mind.

Thanks,

Steve

Is draining the lake an option? You might be able to work on dredging and the dam issues while the lake is empty. Is the sepage casuing the water level to lower? You might also check with the local water resources people. However, this would be my last resort and only if absolutly necessary. They kind of have a way of making people build/do things that error on the side of indestructable, read expensive.

What state are you located? I would start with the Department of Natural Resources. You need them to be on board with what ever you do first and they probably have a list of preferred contractors to help you with this issue. I also would guess that permit was intially pulled to make this lake, which once again they have control, with that permit would be plans and all the sepage coeffiences, ect.

Depending on your state, I bet you have a rodent problem, it is alway the beaver!

Yep, just this last issue. They drained three connected lakes and went gung ho, making them deeper, changing the slope, turn islands, etc... They even went into a bit of detail on the cost.
