Figure 1 is not showing, where can I find which ballast holes are vents and which are drains? or does it matter? I guess I can watch the drains when pumping out?

I have had Reponse LXI's for years so not wooried about the engine part, just ballast tanks.

any info is appreciatted

WD40, as is recommended in my owners manual. Plus it's pretty redneck, which gives me a sense of shadetree mechanic satisfaction.

WD 40 is more solvent than fogging spray. Water Displacement #40. It will actually descipate any lubricant that may be in your cylinders and cause them to rust... Ask me how I know! It baffled the machine shop that resurfaced the flywheel for my '68 Willys too. From the time they machined it to the time I picked it up (8 hours) the whole flyweel was rust! Id hate to see what it would do to fresh cross thatched cylinder bores!

You should try fluid film. Works great on all my vehicles. http://www.fluid-film.com/

Boats -> Spray FLUID FILM over entire engine, electrical connections, fittings, plugs, locks, cables, linkage, gears, any metals for rust protection. FLUID FILM shines up plastic and protects and shines metal railings. Excellent protectant for winterizing. On boat trailers, apply to all electrical connections for lighting system, suspension leaf springs and spring hangers, hull rollers (bearings or bushings), hitch coupling connections, ball hitch, height adjustors, winch, and any exposed metals.

That figure 1 is for the document I wrote for my boat. Malibu is not consistent in how they lay it out. You will need to determine is for your boat.

Question: I always wondered, are the two sides of the block connected? Do the plugs on either side (plug and anti-knock sensor) drain the same space? Not to get every drop of water out, but the majority before filling with antifreeze to avoid dilution.

I usually drain the block and exhaust manifolds, then suck in 2 gal of antifreeze through the intake to the V-Drive.

Not connected at the level of the knock sensors, but yes connected at the water pump, tstat and sometimes through the intake.

So.......If you only pull the plug on one side, it wouldn't drain the actual block, maybe some of the hoses?

It always seemed to me that after you drain one side, not much would come out the other side, but maybe that was just the lower block on that side that was draining

It drains a lot of it, to the level they are connected but doesn't drain the opposite side below the lowest connection point which should be the water pump.
