changing strut bearings, etc

I my sportster has about 360 hrs on the driveline now and figured it was probably time to do preventive maintenance on the driveline this fall when she comes out for the winter. Is there anyone here that has done it themselves? do I REALLY need to purchase special pullers to do it? Wondering if anyone else out there has a step by step instruction example like so many other incredible posts. Any help would be great.

I changed my strut bushing on my LSV I didnt use the special pullers or anything. Just went at it with a hack saw blade. It went pretty quick cutting through the brass of the bushing and then when i was almost all the way through the bushing i just used a screw driver to pry them out. Pretty easy. Then when i installed the new ones i just froze the new ones in the freezer for a couple hours and then just tapped them in. It wasnt to bad at all.

Why? Is it vibrating? You only have 360 hours on it. I would check the alignment and call it good.

If you do change it it's not hard at all. It just takes time.

No its not vibrating, I just thought it was preventative maintainence with that many hours on it. When I grab the driveshaft and move it...how much play should there be? I spins by hand beautifully and alignment seems unchanged. Maybe I should leave well enough alone. Your thoughts.

That's not a preventive maintenance item IMO. Unless there's an issue I'd leave it alone. 360 hours is nothing! I'd be willing to bet there are plenty of people out there with over 1000 hours and never had to touch the cutlass bearing.

Okay, I am glad I asked. I am going to leave well enough alone. Thanks everyone. Unfortunately with the weather here I will be winterizing soon. Can't believe how fast this season went.
