'06 LSV w/ HH prop selection

Sorry to revive this issue again, but I have been searching for a thread on this that I saw within the last 2-3 months and have not been successful.

We run at sea level (or close to it) and primarily wakeboard and surf.

The dealer is telling me that the stock prop for the 2006 LSV is 13.5 x 17.5 from Malibu.

They are willing to put whatever prop I want on, and I am trying to figure out the best setup.

We have the Hammerhead engine, and the Acme site lists 2 options for this setup (231 or 381).

I want to make the best choice possible, and noticed that either OJ or ACME has recently put a new wake-specific prop model out.

Can anyone with the '06 LSV comment or provide some input on this?

Feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

I don't have an LSV, but our VLX does have the same motor & we found that the 381 (13.5 x 17.5) is just about perfect for that setup. My guess is that the new prop that you refer to that Acme has come out with will be too small for that motor, just a guess. It's similar in size (& from what they say at Acme in performance as well) to the 857, which will be smaller than a 537 (13.5 x 16), the stock prop on our boat. What size is the 231?

the 231 is - 13 x 12.5 according to the Acme site. I was wrong before, they are only listing one 4-blade prop for the Wakesetter 23 and it is the 231. I mis-read their table.

This sounds like a sizeable difference to me (compared to the 381). I will call Acme to see what I can find out, just been too busy during work hours to call the last few days. I remember seeing you post on this topic and it sounded as if you were able to definitive decide on your 381. I could not find that post though which is why I started this thread. Thanks for the reply. If I find anything of interest I will post it.

The problem with the 537 (at least on my boat) is that it slips & allows the motor to hit the rev limiter from about 25-30 all the way up to the top end. It's just too much power for a prop that small. I can't believe that they'd recommend a prop as small as the 231, no matter what the cup difference is. And the weight difference between our boats is only 300 lbs, there's probably more of a difference in drag on the wetted surface area than the weight. Stewart's last boat was an '05 23' LSV with the HH, maybe he could tell us what prop his boat was running.

I called ACME and spoke with Bill (I believe that was his name). He is recommending the Acme model 1125 for the HH engines. This prop is 13.5 x 14 with .150 cup. This amount of cup is .045 of an inch more than the stock props according to Bill/Acme and will create a lot of low-end power for weighted boats or boats at altitude.

He has done testing on this prop and is now making them as part of his regular production. I guess last year this prop was available on a limited basis.

I have asked my dealer to get this prop and I will report back when I have tested it out.
