Windshield replacement/repair

Recommended Posts

Hi yall. New to this forum and new Malibu owner. Wife and I picked up a 1990 Euro F3 fixer upper. Was middle ground for us. She wanted a tow boat and I a fishing boat for kids and I. Didnt want something shiny and new just to get fish guts on it. Have looked all over for a replacement for middle walk thru window. Only thing is the part of the frame on the hinge side. Other 3 sides are gone. Called several marine shops and recyclers. All referred me back to the other. Think last option is to remove the hinged piece and take it in to someone as a template to fab the other 3 pieces, although the shape is not square so may be an issue there. Did google search but only stuff, new or used, out there seems to be for Bayliners and Sea Rays.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for any help....

There are select few windshield manufacturers so some of those Sea Ray or Bayliner windshield sections may actually be the same as what you need.

Give them dimensions or if you're close enough go there and ask to walk around with a tape measure.

The side windshield on my 2002 has a bent frame and broken glass. They don't stock the part anywhere...the original manufacturer is making a new one. Just the port side "half", from the walk thru to the bow and down the side. The bill is $2K for just the part...luckily it is not on my dime.

I doubt you will find the part and if you have them make it, you could be in for serious sticker shock. Might want to see if you can luck out and find a generic that will fit...

Is the frame still good, just the glass missing?

Only piece I have is the hinged side, still attached to windshield. No glass. Just talked to a friend of mine who has a shop next to another guy who owns a metal shop. Says to bring the boat to him. May be able to fab a piece using the exitsing hinged piece and window opening measurement. We'll see.

Have looked all around for compatible windows. Seems Bayliner, Larson and Tracker are the closest, but are off, from 1/2" to severval inches".

Hopeful the metal guy will work out. Cant be that much for a few aluminum pieces.....

Well, called Taylor Made. They said this part is no longer made but they could custom fab for me, at $600. Seems if you own a boat older than 10 years old, you are on your own....
