How to remove the drivers foot rest in a 2002 Sunscape 23LSV?

I want to update my system and add a sub under the driver foot compartment. The Foot Rest board under the dash seems to be secured at the bottom but I cannot find any screws other then one on the far right side which secures it to where the cup holder inlet is. Has anyone removed one in their boat and do you have any pointers on where its secured. I dont want to hack the thing up at this point.

Thanks

I assume your boat would be the same as mine. There should be two screws, about 1/2" from the bottom of the kick plate. They are more or less equally spaced at 1/3 points across the plate. You can supposedly feel through the carpet to find the screws, but that didnt work for me. I bought a stud finder that has a metallic nail/screw detector. It wasnt perfect, but I was able to narrow the damage to1/2" triangular flaps in the carpet to expose the screws. I then glued the flaps back down.

Get something thin like a hacksaw blade and slide it under the footrest and you will locate the screws. At that point you know where to dig around in the carpet to get a driver on them.

:plus1: I used a putty knife.
