QQ: 8.1 liter engine and surfing; oil starving rumors

I'm looking at a 2006 and 2007 247 LSVs with the 8.1 (one closed cooling, one raw).

With surfing these boats, I've heard rumours that the big blocks were more prone to starving the cylinders of oil. I have no practical experience nor mechanical knowledge to agree or disagree with this statement. Knowing may not defer me from buying one of these boats but I'd like to go in eyes wide open!

I know I need to check that the 8.1 has been re calibrated (ECM) as per indmar recall ... Any other words of advice specific to the 8.1?

Thx
