brown stains

Recommended Posts

just bought a 98 RLX and it was bright white, then a weekend in and out of the water and cleaning it after takiing it out i seen that there were brown water stains on it and they would not come off. So my question is what is a good way to get rid of the stain and keep them away.

Slimy Grimy or muriatic acid. I've used Acid Smart which is less dangerous to your skin but you still need to be careful and cover everything up.

Then a good polishing with a machine and a good waxing. Once the gel coat is gets older it becomes more porous. It gets stained easier and easier, requiring more maintenance.

I just used Lime-away toilet bowl cleaner and had excellent results. Make sure to reapply wax afterward.

West Marine sells hull cleaner.......someone above mentioned muriatic acid. The Hull Cleaner they sell is basically made up of muriatic acid and a few other ingredients. Regardless of which you choose make sure you be careful with getting it on your trailer.....wet and rinse the trailer often.
