Slight Vibration when take off

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys Im new to the forum and im new to boat Ownership. Ive got a 98 direct drive Sportster LX and Saturday we were out wakeboarding and hit a log or some kind debris in the river. Now the boat as soon as you put it in gear from like 0 to 15 mph has a slight vibration. It never has had before. Looked at the Prop it looks fine. It is a 3 blade Stainless. Dont know what else it could be. But only seems to vibrate when going slow, but when you go above 15 mph it goes away. or it feels as if it does. but in lower rpm is when it really vibrates like the boat shakes.. What do you guys think could be my problem here?? let me know Thanks

You possibly bent the shaft and/or strut. Also check the bolts that connect the shaft to the teansmission to make sure they are all there and tight.

The bad thing about a stainless prop is it doesn't give/bend like the others do when you hit something, but something has to give (shaft, etc) when hitting rocks or logs.

Start with the prop. Have the shop check it or install your spare. After that your looking at shaft and strut issues. But rule out the prop first.
