No more production pictures

We ordered our LSV in February and were anxiously awaiting production pictures from the factory after the spray date a week ago when our dealer said: "no more". He was informed that they will no longer be sending "day-by-day" pictures due to the overwhelming request for them. "When possible", he said, "they will be snapping pics during production, and when the boat is getting finished, they will try and send the group of pics that they've accumulated throughout production". This is a real let-down having this change at the time our boat went into production. I really can't blame them, however; it has to be a lot of work to keep all the pictures organized. The waiting is terrible, though--as many of you know.

We experienced the same thing, I think we got 4 total pictures while our boat was in the line. I disagree with you though. I do blame them. They could hire some min. wage dude to snap pictures and send them out. Heck, get a free intern. I spent a lot of money on my boat, I don't think it is too much to ask for some pictures of the production.

Well the way I see it if they need to concentrate more on building the boats and less on taking pictures I'm good with that. I will have plenty of time to take pics of the boat when it's in my possesion, I only got a few pic when they where building mine and it wasn't until the end. But I was okay with that.

Since you got so many pictures of your boat being built mx, care to expand on that.

Since my spray date is 4/11, I planned to contact malibu this week about emailing me pics...I'll be really disappointed if they just decided to stop a week before my boat gets built.

Yabetcha,

I was going to ( Dave, you are to quick!!), but decided not to-

Its not my place to comment on Malibu's business decisions.

But keep in mind, that I went down to the factory twice, and took a lot of pictures myself.

I am backing this comment because I was there at the factory with Jeff at the same time when we were told this. We aren't commenting on specifics out of respect to Malibu. Maybe one of the moderators can get the story to pass on for all.

Well said!!

If Malibu would offer this service as an option to order, and if they would charge it with 100 bucks or so, I definitely would spend that extra $$!! And I'm sure most of us fanatics would do as well. Problem solved.

But if there should be other reasons besides the huge amount of time and the exploding demand as JeffMX said, that's another thing...

I also only received a few pics. I got the original spray date pics and then the next ones I got were of the lake test! I really wanted to see the boat going through the rigging process, but oh well. Actually might have been able to save the dealer a little bit of a hassle (and myself a extra week of waiting for the boat) if I had seen more pics....the stainless rubrail was somehow missed in my order and the dealer had to install after it arrived.

I would have liked to have seen more pics along the way but I realize they are running a business and may not be able to always accomodate. They did however install the Polk speakers that I sent to the factory and I thought that was awesome of Malibu!

I'm in and out of car plants on a daily basis (all the american manufactures) and a camera permit is almost impossible to get, I have to agree with Malibu (as much as I like to see the pictures)

Jeff and Dave, did you guys sign waivers or something? Why the sealed lips? Did they ask you to not go public? If not your free to post what was said.......

Afterall, it was the forum that let people know about factory pictures in the first place (that was not public knowledge), so it might as well be the one letting people know why there is a change Shocking.gif

I just got my pics of our new VLX ordered in March. There was some confusion between me and the dealer and when I received the pics there was a note from Malibu stating they are implementing sending pics two weeks after production because it caused to much confusion with customers between production dates and actual delivery dates.

Just to clarify some things from the factory. Malibu is continuing to fulfill all requests to have pictures taken during the boat manufacturing process. As many of us have toured the factory, we have been invited to take pictures along the whole tour, in addition to our boat. This is a customer service feature that Malibu offers and will continue to offer. Malibu understands that production photos are a very personal experience that they offer and know that their owners have a great desire to see the production photos of their boat. Due to the recent increase in demand for these production photos, all picture requests throughout the manufacturing process will still be taken and released after the production has been complete. This new process will continue on a temporary basis as this is the busiest time of the year and should return to the original process in time.

I just spoke with the factory, my spray date is moved up to 4/13 (was 4/19). I asked about pictures and they said they will take pictures during production and then send all of them once production is completed. Yahoo.gif

That just shows his level of excitement, that he would let that much slip. (Awesome news Stewart! Yahoo.gif) It will be a very cool boat, I can tell you that much. :)

As for the production pics, I can see why people are upset, but I can also see the reasoning behind the decision that they've made. For the record, I think that adding it as a Club Malibu perk is a great idea & would probably entice a lot more people to sign up as a result.
