Short term vinyl seam repair

Recommended Posts

My rear middle seat seam is tearing. What is the best way to deal with this until I can get it replaced? I'm planning on going out this weekend and need a way to make it last a little while longer. It has just started to open up from the stitching breaking. I was thinking about putting one of those clear vinyl repair pieces on it but didn't know if it woudl work on the seam.

I'm in the same boat. Will probably super glue mine shut as I will replace the skin for next season. It is the rear seat back cushion on mine that the seam tread is seperating. That skin on mine has already had two repairs made on it for small tears in it. Figured it is time to just replace it. Got 950 hours out of it before thread failure.

Just a tip, I looked for VLP and when they didn't have it, I bought the Ace brand clear sealant. It went on great and I was very pleased....until after I pulled it out of storage and saw that all the little tears I patched with it had turned yellow. I haven't heard of VLP doing that, but would stay away from ACE brand vinyl patch/sealer.
