Bungee Dock Lines

Quick question--Would anyone recommend the "stretchy" docking lines? If so, how long should they be for the VLX with std factory placed clets? Or is the good old fashion regular anchor line best.

I use them all the time. I have two sets. One being 4' long that stretch to 6' and two 6' long ones that stretch to 9'. The issue that you have to deal with mostly is where the cleats are located on the dock. some are far away some are close. I even have used one dock cleat with both lines attached to each boat cleat.

we have a strectchy dock line, and it is pretty useless. If you are close too the cleat, there is no tention, and you cannot tie it around anything, so its just plain aggrivating.

I've used them but beware when they wear out.

We only got 1 season on a pair.

They aren't clean spliced - they are spliced and STAPLED at the loop.

This junction is covered with plastic.

The staple will rust and when it comes apart it can scratch your gel.

We use ours a few times a year: moorage at Antlers (we call them the Shasta setup) where they make it really easy to get in and out of the dock, on a houseboat trip, and for lashing up with other boats.

We tend to use the regular dock lines when we're launching or retrieving the boat and don't dock many other times.

ShadeTreeWaterSports.com had them on sale last year. You might check there to see if they still do. I think I paid $4 each for mine...
