Idea for a website (Video analasys...)

I had an idea for a cool website. Blowup.gif Maybe someone who has the know-how can create it or add it to their existing site. OR MAYBE THIS MIGHT INTEREST THE ADMIN CREW...(Hint, Hint...). Tease.gif

This could be a place where people post pictures or videos of moves or techniques that they need a hand on mastering. It could be barefoot tricks, slalom, wake tricks, trick skiing, hydro foiling, surfing, tubing and PWCrafting (the 2 last ones are a joke by the way...). Other members could then comment or even reply with a video or picture of their advise.

What do you think??? Is it just me or this could be very usefull and fun! Dontknow.gif

I think the concept is great - I could use all the help I can get! Biggrin.gif A number of crew members have posted some of their slalom pictures in the watersports thread and gotten

good feedback/advice for other members.

there an similar attempt at doing slalom coaching as a business (http://www.personalproskier.com/). I'm pretty sure Terry Winter was one of the "coaches". They asked for VHS tapes to be sent in instead of posting to the web. The site appears to be dead.

Dan,

I like the idea a lot!... hope the administrators give your idea a thought... Biggrin.gif

I guess this would be good for the administrators too... The 330k download limit of non-paying members would not permit them to view any videos. This would probably increase substantially the number of paid memberships (me the first...). Thumbup.gif Anybody else who is a CrewMember who would be willing to upgrade to CrewSupportter or CrewChief to be able to acces the video analysis section if it were to exist?

TMC fact:

As of today, there are 122 CrewSupporters, 103 CrewChiefs and 1296 CrewMembers.

From the beginning, we have given this a lot of thought & discussion as something that we would really like to implement, but cannot justify it at the moment. Our bandwidth useage has spiked over the past few months & we're close to our limit as it is. Video uses a lot more bandwidth than still images do, so much more so that we don't have a benchmark to go from to even get an idea of what it would cost us to start with. So in short, it may be something that could be done eventually, but not as things stand currently.

There are still sites such as Wakepics to host videos that are free, so that might be an option for those that like to share files such as these.

1foot -

Welcome to the site!

I think your idea is a great one. But frankly, with FREE video options like Google Video and YouTube it would a waste of The Crew's time and money. It would be VERY easy for someone to post their own video for free on Google Video and then provide a LINK to it here on the site.

I recommend that approach to anyone that would like to see video here.

Use putfile.com to host your videos. Just make sure they're taken relatively close-up so the subtleties can be seen in a compressed format. Once you have your video on putfile.com, just link it to this site with a request for help. That way, we don't crush this site's bandwidth usage or necessitate a massive server upgrade.

Another option is Google video. They'll host your video for you, but it usually takes a couple days to get it approved. I have one of my snowmobile helmet camera videos hosted there. It works alright...
