You'll be able to learn to surf ropeless with stock ballast, wedge, and surfgate. That being said, adding additional ballast will not hurt your situation. It will make it easier to find the sweet spot and stay in the wave but will obviously cause you to burn more fuel....

I would say try it a few times as is, then add ballast a little later this summer so that you have something to look forward to. Plus, when the new Ronix sacks are out in a month or so they will be the hot item to buy!

I learned that adding ballest is a must, Getting the boat lower in the water is better for surfing and once you learn you will want more of a wake the nest session your out. I tried with out a couple of times then added some ballast and found it was much, much better and mor fun. A nice clean wake is more fun and easier.
