Hi All,

I'm new to this site and seeking info about Surfgate set-ups.

We have recently taken delivery of a new 2013 VLX. This is our first Malibu and extremely happy. Optioned it up with Wedge and Surfgate etc.

Looking for info about best set-ups everyone is using for the Surfgate. What ballast? Wedge positon? etc. We are using surfgate but I think it could be a hole lot better with right set-up.

Thanks for any help.

I have been told by a malibu rep the VLX likes 550's in both of the rear compartments, full quad ballast full, wedge all the way down, 10.5-10.9 mph and surfgate deployed.

What ballast system are you using? PnP? Extra weight?

Hi Fman,

Thanks for the info.

Boat has standard factory ballast system in rear compartments and centre/middle, also optioned with front ballast.

I'm just trying to get the best set-up with what I have. Cheers

Had a chance to shoot a video for a TV show called "Rush Club" last fall. In the video we used the 2013 Malibu VLX with Surf Gate for the shoot. We had all the factory ballast filled including the bow ballast. We then added 750's in each rear locker, 600 on the floor and 600 in the bow. Here is a link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qtaa2UWm8k.

We loved the wake and will pick ours up in a couple weeks. We plan to use the 750's in the back and have them tied into the factory ballast (not using Malibu's PnP since it drains to slow we add a pump on our bag to assist with drain speed. We also plan to run a 750 center floor and either a 500 or 750 center front.
