noisy transmission in Neutral

Recommended Posts

ok so dont sure if anyone has had this problem before or if anyone can chip in ideas on what to check.

so after towing a boarder for a couple of runs i notice that when putting the transmission back into neutral after spinning around to pick them up there is a weird rumbling noise from the transmission. i have a 2000 vlx sunsetter and its weighed down a bit, haven't had the tranny slip. checked trany fluid its fine plan on changing it before next trip out.

any ideas would be helpfull

thanks

I'm sure more knowledgeable will chime in, but it sounds as if your drive plate is going. Should change very soon to prevent catastrophic failure.

That would be my guess as well. Do a search for "damper plate" on here and you'll find out all you will ever want to know about it.
