Tracking fin sealant

I was thinking of using 3M 4200 to seal my new tracking fin. It's the weakest bonding underwater rated sealant I could find. Does anyone have other suggestions?

what was the old one mounted with?

I thought most connections were done with just silicone from the factory.

Silicone is not underwater rated. I did find out what they use from a Malibu tech.

Boatlife Life Seal

It's a silicone with poly in it, specifically designed for fiberglass and gelcoat and it's underwater rated.

I'm using the Boatlife Life Seal, I was waiting for their answer when I posted here. I searched but nobody had a specific answer to this question.

Boatlife life seal and 3m 4200 are both fast curing polyurethane sealants. And both would work fine

Any silicone rated for continuous underwater use will work fine. I added a 3rd fin to my Sporty and installed it with silicone (cont. underwater rated) and it's been on there for years now. No problems and we have a pretty tight turn around at one end of the course which is done under full power.

Curious. Did you install the fin only with sealant? Or did you drill or tap holes for the bolts as well?
