What pressure for your trailer tires

Inflate trailer tires to max cold pressure listed on sidewall. Check/Inflate when tires are cold, and even as they heat up and go beyond what is listed on side wall, you will have max load carry capability. Hence the 'max cold psi' listing on the sidewall.

My load range D Marathons call for 65 psi cold.

x2 max pressure is for a cold tire, if the tire is hot and you inflate it to the max pressure, the tire is going to be under inflated. If you tow your trailer without the boat long distances then you can take some air out (not sure how much), but if you tow your boat trailer with your boat on it, I would use max pressure.

On thing to note is that lower pressure = smoother ride.

Stiff overinflated tires will make the trailer more bouncy.

Lower pressure = less carrying capacity of the tire

Proceed at your own risk.

The carrying capacity is the same whether the tire is at a lower pressure or max pressure. The carrying capacity depends solely upon the design capabilities of the tire itself.

Incidentally, the safe carrying capacity is less at max pressure as the greater pressure puts a strain on the tire.
