What amp do I need?

I have done several installs on boats and cars and one thing i have learned is "spend a little more money to get a good amp." RMS power is the only power rating that is worth comparing when looking to match an amp to your speakers. I prefer class D amplifiers but that doesn't mean you cant get great sound from a class an AB amplifier. If you want to know the difference look here ( http://www.bcae1.com/ampclass.htm ). With that said here is a good kicker amp, class AB, that wont break the bank and would work very well with your tower speakers.

hope this helps but i think you will find the more people you talk to the more opinions you will get. just please don't pick up a swap meet amplifier that advertises 1000W MAX POWER!! lol

As stated above, the speaker's nominal impedance is rated at 4-ohms but it does have an impedance dip that can cause some, not all, bridged 4-channel amplifiers to have stability or thermal issues. A safe choice would be a two-channel amplifier rated at 150 watts RMS per channel into a 4-ohm load.

That polk amp would be perfect and it's pretty affordable. Do you have a price range you're looking at? Because I would also check out wetsounds, they're a little bit more expensive but you definitely get what you pay for!

No. That's pretty much a garbage amp. Notice it is 125x2 peak watts. Peak means nothing, it probably puts out 50x2 rms of distorted sound. I wouldn't put that thing in a Power Wheels, let alone a boat.

You are obviously on a tight budget. If the Polk I suggested is too pricey (in which case don't even bother checking out anything from Exile, JL, or Wetsounds), then consider the PPI version of that Polk amp:

Marine rated and should be a perfect match for those speakers. 2 ohm stable so no worries there either.

It does not state "marine amp" anywhere in the specs. How sure are you these are marine amps? I did notice in the user manual it states "marine certified" but not sure what that means. Does that mean it can handle damp conditions but not a direct shot with the water hose?

My most recent amp was not marine rated and worked well for a little over a year. It now has a problem with the right channel that could or could not be moisture related. I would rather be safe than out $500.
