Got carried away today, SSLXI Interior Rehab

My SSLXI is in storage, so I can't be 100% sure, but I think your trunk latch is mounted 180 degrees 'backwards'. If you put the threaded rod towards the rear of the trunk, I think the latch will hook the catch from the side. Does that make any sense?

And thanks for posting such a detailed description of this project. You are going to have one sweet boat when you are done.

EDIT: Nevermind. If what I thought was correct, it would preclude the handle from being able to spin 360 degrees, which I am pretty sure mine does.

It's possible the latch is installed wrong, I will look. It's also possible that the trunk lid should mounted a half inch closer to the couch seat back or I have the wrong latch. Chee put the latch hole in so that must be right.

This is going to be the boat that your grandchildren argue over after you go... Take lots of pics and put them in a shoebox for the family to ponder 40 years from now. Bonus points for family members in the shots.

Oh, I think that car may be some kind of hybrid, called a Malibuick !

Steve B.

The Malibuick was enormous, it was all I could do to walk away from that project .

I'm pretty sure you could fit your boat in the trunk of that car!

Wow! That looks brand new.

You are really a craftsman.

Thanks, but I am hardly the craftsman. Chee did the skins and I had professional help putting the skins on the panels and cushions, but I am developing my skills as a take apart and put back together engineer.
