Knock Sensor issues - 325 Monsoon

Recommended Posts

After winterizing the boat, I decided to unscrew the knock sensor to double check that side of the block to make sure antifreeze made it to that side after reading some winterization posts. The good news is it did even though there is none in it now, the bad news is that once I removed the knock sensor, I can't get it back in. Looks like the threads have been stripped out from previous removals evidently. I ordered a new sensor from Bakes and I cannot get it to screw in either and before I mess up the threads, I figured I had better ask what is the best way to fix this.

Attached is a pic of the old and new sensors:

Can I recap it or something? If so what do I need to do it with?

Thanks for any input!

Just buy a 1/4" NPT (National pipe thread) tap and tap the hole. Usually rust builds up in them from all the water and sitting.

Once you tap it, should thread in just great.
