two dumb questions

Recommended Posts

I have a 98 malibu echelon. My dad helped me winterize and I can't remember where to route the oil drain tube back on the engine. I am pretty sure there is a clip to hold it somewhere on one side or the other but I don't remember.

Also, which way (right or left) do I turn the steering wheel so that the steering cable is closed up...I don't remember.

Thanks.

My oil drain hose is held in place on the left side of the motor with a black plastic zip tie. The hose fits into the zip tie and the zip tie is wrapped around two larger radiator hoses.

It has a clip. If you are standing at the front of the boat it's on the left side toward the back. It will go below the motor then loop up . The clip is at the top. Don't let it sit in the bilge,if the boly backed out from vibration the oil would drain out. Be careful that it doesnt rest near the exhaust manifold

Just tie up the oil drain hose anywhere that is as high as you can get it but, there is usually a shower curtain rod looking sized ring on the motor mount that you would use to pull the motor out.

And, crank the wheel all the way to the right.
