Scarpa Bracket

Recommended Posts

Are the wedge and scarpa bracket the same? I was looking at a used Response LXI with a scarpa plate (which has little use for me) and was wondering if I could buy just the wedge foil to go in its place or do I need to get a new bracket also?

they use the same plate on the back of the boat. unbolt the scarpa and bolt up a Wedge. FWIW, the scarpa plates normally bring decent cash

That is good to know. A guy called me last week about my boat for sale and wanted to know what it would take to remove the wedge and install a Scarpa barefoot plate. I told him I didn't know.

If you end up with the boat and want to keep the bracket and sell the Scarpa Plate, let me know. I may have a buyer.

I have the scarpa plate...it increases the wake quality for barefooting tremedously. I've done alot of adjusting to get the plate dialed in and don't think I'd like swapping out the plate and wedge.

targeted at the no-stick crowd...

Edwin- Why would you want a stick for?... they cost money, they take up room in the boat and when you come home late from the lake the wife uses it to hit you over the head with it!... ROFL.gif

I agree with TS 100%!... they are a lot of work to get them dialed in the way you like it, especially to reduce the sharp lip of the crest on the starboard side, I was never able to soften it to match the port side, it would bite you every once in a while. Cry.gif

Scarpa Plate? Is that Scarpa as in "Ron Scarpa" the barefooter or is that a typo?

Yes, Scarpa plate, as in he helped design it.

Details on Adjustment

It looks an awful lot like a cavitation plate used on flat bottoms in the 60s and 70s. Hmmm...did he patent that idea?

My best friend bought a new '86 Skier back in 1986 with one installed on it, not sure if it was installed by the dealer or in the factory, when he walked in the showroom floor it was already installed on the boat.

I doubt they're too worried about it. I don't think there's a huge market for barefoot plates out there waiting to be tapped into. If so, there would still be a barefoot specific hull in the lineup. When I ordered mine they had to "Make It."

Great videos Ozzy! Although the one of you looked painful. With all this talk of helmets, it's a little surprising that you Footers don't wear them.

Wakegirl,

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think I need a helmet, my dad always said I was hard headed and my wife says I got nothing up there to protect, I am assuming she means hair?!...:lol::lol:

Nice videos OZ, that tuck and roll was really good. Did you have time to actually get into the tuck on that one or did it 'just happen that way'?

I cannot say I did it on purpose... after you have been barefooting a while I think it becomes automatically, I think some people call it muscle memory... :)

BTW: Congratulations on your daughter's progress!... Clap.gif

that's not standard on the old skiers?

My boat has one on it, and i just figured it was standard equipment to shape the wake for skiing...

and i'm sure it doesn't help when we wakeboard

i'm serious here... because if it isn't there for my ski wake, i think i'll pull it off.

I only foot from a boom right now, and working on a short-handle. But i've got no business footing long-line yet.
