Power wedge "unbalanced"

Recommended Posts

I have a 2009 vlx. I had to get new actuators for the wedge due to hitting something that tore the plastic brackets off. I replaced the actuators and hooked them up just like they should be. However, the wedge will go down but on the way up it sticks and reads- wedge unbalanced- and will not move. If I unhook the actuators from the wedge itself and have someone move the speed paddle while on the trailer the actuators work perfect but then when I hook them back to the wedge I get the unbalanced error again. Any help or pointer would be great! Thanks in advance!

Three thoughts...

1. Is the wedge free? Can you swing it from the stowed to deployed positions without the foil binding?

2. When you re-attach the actuators are they both fully retracted or extended so they are "balanced" from the start? If one is partially off it's end stop it would bind as the wedge moves.

3. Are both actuators exactly the same Lenco part number?

You need to adjust the actuators so they are insink. There's a link on Bakes wed site on how to do this. Also verify you have two of the same actuators. They make two for our boats a 3 lobe and a 5 lobe.

Thanks guys, Ill check into all of that when I get out of work today. The wedge is free it will swing back and forth freely, I will double check to be sure that they didnt give me one 3 lobe and one 5 lobe though, it seems that may be the problem after hearing from yall. I had double checked that they were both fully retracted before installing them but I will also be sure of that again. thanks
