Stereo Acc Dash Switch?

Recommended Posts

On my 2005 VLX, there is an Acc switch on the right side of the steering wheel. The power wire for it comes from the stereo circuit breaker, and the load wire goes to an unknown location. Since the switch does nothing for the current stereo, what was it intended for? There must be some option, does anyone know what it is? I believe that the wire is terminated somewhere in the boat with a butt splice. Thanks in advance.

Are you the first owner?

Is this the stock stereo?

So I think you are saying that your head unit does not connect to the stereo circuit breaker? Is there a fuse on your stereo?

I am guessing that at some point, someone had there stereo hooked to that switch, but then decided against it.

Second owner and everything is stock.

Head unit +12v (white w/ purple) goes to circuit breaker under arm rest. That wire is paired with another wire that goes to the input side of the optional acc stereo switch which is the third or forth switch to the right of the steering wheel and labeled "ACC." From that switch is a brown w/ purple wire that goes into a wire loom and into the floor of the boat and goes somewhere to the back of the boat.

My stereo HU & amps come on with that switch. I like it because turning the boat engine on/off makes no change in the stereo at all.

Only issue is that the stereo doesn't keep time or the AM/FM presets at all..... but those aren't really issues since we use MP3 players, internet or satellite radio anyway.
