Bow cushion removal

Recommended Posts

Hi,

we just refunish the upholstery for my 06 vlx and the shop has problems with the removal of the bow cushion.

The cusion is fixed with 2 metal brackets, one on each side, where we have no idea how to remove it. Please have a look a the pictures. I am sure there is a trick.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you get this screw out? Not sure but it appears it's binding right there. Can you get the carpeted panel off the top of the bow tank and maybe have better access to the bottom side of that bracket?

We pulled the bow tank already up but unfortunately this did not give us any access.

We loosened the screw a bit too but it seems the cushion is still fixed tightly to the bracket so I assumed there should be another one which we can not see. And this screw is already hard to remove. I will try tomorrow to remove it completely but somehow I have the feeling this will not not the trick

The cushion is fixed only with that bracket on each side. The top cushion is holding it in place in the front.

You always have the option to cut the screw/bolt with a sawsall or hacksaw, then figure out how you want to re-install it. E.g threaded insert into the seat bottom with a through bolt (through new holes in the seat base glass) or whatever.
