Sunsetter LX vs LXI for skiing

I would definetely get the LXI. Awesome ski wake. We had a 2001 Sunsetter LX(actually just called sunsetter, no lx.) Ours was custom ordered on a diamond hull, and it skied awesome, was just missing the rear storage and an extra 1.5 feet or so.

I have never skied an LXI. I ski my SSLX regularly and do so in the course and it does well. I hope to get a pull behind an SSLXI in the 2013 season to be able to really comment on the difference. All the guys I ski with, who ski all the local tournaments and perform well, have nothing but good things to say about the SSLX. HTH.

It depends upon the year of the LX all years except ’02 are on the wake hull. There is a definite difference between the slalom wakes behind these two boats. The SLX is narrower at 93” beam vs the SLXI or RLXI. I’m not sure which LXI you’re interested in. The diamond hull creates lift and thereby reducing the wake size and more importantly softens the wake. The SLXI has the large 18 cu. Ft. rear trunk which is very handy on open water to stow all gear and being a slightly bigger boat more comfortable.

I’ve skied both in open water and in the course, for me in the course I want a diamond hull in open water it’s less crucial but still preferred. The LX is a great boat as well and depending on what type of wake you’re coming from or none at all it may be great for you. Price wise it’ll be much less expensive.
