How to weight a 2012 LSV

Recommended Posts

I just signed the papers on my new 2012 Wakesetter LSV. I came with the 3 tank MLS and I have the Dealer plumbing in (2) 750lb fat sacs in the lockers. How do you guys weight yours?

Thanks

I have an 07 LSV. I surf goofy. Fill right full, center 3/4, front half. 750 in rear locker, 750 on seat behind driver. No wedge and go 11.8. I use a surf style board and this makes a very long wave. I love it. Wedge makes a steeper shorter easier to learn wave at about 10.6. would use this if I was skim surfing or teaching newbies to go ropeless.

If it's a 2012 it's probably a boat sitting on the dealer lot and not a new build. As others said you need some bow weight. If yours doesn't have the factory hard tank in the bow then I would plumb in a Fat Sac like the W711 under the front seats.

True not sure why a dealer would order only the rear ballast...it's not expensive but one of those things that makes it tough to deal w/ afterwards. You can get a Po X Series Fat Brick or Pro X bag to lay in the foot well of the bow. I haven't looked close enough to see if '12 MY could be retrofitted with a bow tank.

What kind of dealer orders a VLX without the full ballast tank compliment.

I'd do whatver you can to get that front tank. This will be an issue that will haunt you when it comes to resale.

Dealers have added front tanks and can make it look totally factory. Your dealer will be slower over the winter - probably a good time to get it done.

The front tank is only 250 pounds. 2 hot chicks up front and you have the same amount of weight. It just isn't that much.

I would do this: http://www.themalibucrew.com/forums/index.php?/topic/39452-tallredriders-front-ballast-install/page__hl__tallredrider Mine runs 400 pounds, much more reasonable to balance out the rear weight. It might sound like a big deal to not have front tanks, but when the riders that go with me see this system, they have been pretty impressed.

Then you can even throw down a big 1000 pound triangle sack if needed.

I do not know why the dealer didn't do the bow ballast, but I don't mind filling a tube sac (375lbs) for bow. weight.

Are you guys saying I don't really need any additional rear ballast for wakeboarding? I know the fat sacs will be great for wakesurfing.

I'm coming from a 2000 lsv, I had 400lb rear sacs,400 lbs ski locker sac, but a fac sac in the middle of the boat and an additional bow sac. That was perfect for that boat with the wedge down. Took me a season to get the configuration.
