If you had read the link that I provided in my earlier post, you would know that I started with the same assumption.

Not saying that vapor lock is absolutely your problem (there are other things, I'm told, that can mimic vapor lock), but it is common on our era of Malibu boat,  and on Supra/Moomba boats through 2009, IIRC.

It is much more likely to occur when using ethanol, and I rarely ever had a problem with it until the past two seasons (I'm now forced to use ethanol, and I'm much more likely to shut down the engine and sit for awhile between skiing runs nowadays).  YMMV.
