Need some crew input 2012 has lost 8 MPH on top end

Boat consistently run 46-47 MPH this weekend 39 was all it would go. I don't run all out very often but it was noticeably slower. I used the GPS to confirm the speed

I'm sure the folks at WSA will have an answer for me when they open tomorrow but it's driving me a little nuts

Prop is good and un harmed , wedge is all the way up, load is unchanged. I had to reset the factory settings in the maliview friday but don't think that affects the Top speed

Don't know much about Malivue, but is it possible you still had some ballast aboard and the reset had it showing empty? Did you do anything else different? Fuel OK?

Check your plugs, if you haven't re-propped and you're consistently running with a lot of ballast, it's easy to foul the plugs from high loads at lower rpms. I bet they look pretty black and a fresh set would take care of it.

What motor do you have?

FYI most folks with 247 with 6.OL get 42mph with a full tank fully loaded down and 45-47 with a light load.

The impact and piss poor performance of cheapie ethanol gas can not be under estimated. I get 12mpg towinhg when I fill my truck with pure ethanol free gas. 8-9mpg with cheapie ethanol free gas. Nearly 25% diFference.

Thats cause ethanol BTU value is about 76,000, while gas is about 110,000 and diesel is about 134,000...all depending on a whole bunch of factors...

And ethanol is hard on all the rubber components in your engine like o rings, gaskets, etc.

So we're all paying more and getting less...

hell, mine has never run over 40. LOL! but...I have 1235 prop and LCR engine. Never have a problem getting out of the whole - even with full ballast, wedge, and people. I have a station here that sells ethanol free - makes a huuuge difference.
