Broken storage bin

Our 2010 vlx has a plastic storage bin under the center rear seat. After stuffing alot of trash in it and sitting on the seat, it has cracked. Any idea of where to get a new one? Any mods to make it stronger? I briefly checked Bakes but didn't immediately see it.

Also, has anybody tried to put a hinge on the seat cushion over the ice chest bin? Seems like it would make accessing that area alot

easier.

Not sure on the storage bin, but I installed a stainless steel hinge on the ice chest seat cushion. I installed it on the underside of the cushion (behind drivers seat) so it would open towards the drivers seat. I just used a stainless hinge found at the local hardware store. I think the brand was stanley. Its a little tricky to figure out where to locate the hinge though. I installed the hinge on the top of the cooler sidewall first, then put some double sided tape on the hinge and sat the cover down on it, so I could properly locate it on the cushion. Its held up great since last spring.

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering how to line it up. The double sided tape is a great idea. How long were the screws that you used on the underside of the seat? Any worry of it poking up too far?

The screws were the ones that came with the hinge, I think they were about 1/2 inch long though. The plastic material on the underside of the seat is about 1/2 inch thick or so. Didnt poke through at all.

We have bought this through Bakes in the past, I would bet they either have them in stock or can get them pretty easy. What I find interesting is why does the tray not fit the hole exactly?? In both the 23LSV and the 247LSV the tray seems to be about 1 inch or better too narrow. I almost felt like making a fiberglass one that actually fits perfect.
