Best way to put up a barefoot boom on vdrive

I purchased a used barefoot boom this summer. It came with the adjustable height mount. I've changed the cable lengths so it fits my boat. I haven't figured out a good way to put it up/take it down without almost falling off the boat or swearing while I'm trying to hold the thing at arm's length to get the pole in. Am I missing something? What is the best way to get the thing up?

I have it set so the pole is just behind the illusion x tower.

Thanks!

Jim

Because the curve in the bar is so much (more so than the DD ones) it doesn't seem possible to put it together then attach it to the pylon. It twists due to the weight. I'll give this a try again though.

Clamp first section on and fold it upright. Stand on seat if necessary to insert handle end, then fold the whole shebang down and attach the cable. That's how we do it.

That's definitely the easiest way, but that doesn't always work with the height adjuster, the bottom section can bind up on the adjuster when folding it upright (depending on the boom). My suggestion is skip the adjustable height attachment and it goes much easier.

Oops. Missed that part.

Agree, ditch the height adjuster for the V drive. Mount the clamp as low as you can on the pylon. Boom won't be too high for any adults. Might be a bit high for kids. I never liked that height adjuster in our DDs. Always just kept a socket set in the boat for that.
