VTX - can it surf?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, new to the forum, thanks for having me. Looking for a little help/advice. Considering a 2008 VTX for a first wake boat. Boat is sweet, my question is can it surf? My wife and I are novice surfers. Boat has 1,250 MLS (four tanks), plus plumbed 1,500 bag in rear locker (has one bag that can plug in port or starboard).

I believe it will make a wave tall enough; will it be long enough on regular side? And should I have concerns about water over the bow or other planing issues? We were looking at VLX or other 21 or 22-footers, but then I saw this VTX. Owner says he uses it for surfing almost exclusively.

Is there anything else I should I be concerned about with a 20-footer (besides the obvious smaller passegner areas) or with a 2008 VTX in particular ? Thanks to everyone for the help.

We surf my 08 vtx diamon hull all summer long. I can do 360's and ride / carve no problem. The vtx is an excellent boat.

We run goofy side

Rear mls full

Center full

A bow sac under the front seats

A 750 in the rear locker

Wedge at 11 o'clock

Speed at 12

Thanks, everyone. Good advice, great pics. Looks like there's no problem surfing when setup properly. That's the next step, and next post I'm sure!
