Ronix Boot Tongue Wear

Well,

I picked up a set of used 11 Ronix Cell Bindings. Bindings look brand new on the outside, except where the laces attach on the tongue, the nylon loop seems to rub on the tongue and has worn away the thing leather covering the tongue.

Is this normal? It seems like per their design it would have to be? I would think so, but can't seem to find a lot of posts about it?

Thanks

It's happening on my 08 ones. They've heald up great until recently.

Here's a quote by a ronix rep that explains how the 2013 bindings changed.

"All of the bindings have had an upgrade this year. The liners in the heat-moldable boots are now using a rip-stop material on the tongue which stops abrasion from the laces, and we now have vertiacl stitch lines in the heel area of the liners for more heel hold, and there is no chance of liner delamination. Great news for cable riders who take their boots on and off 50+ times a day! There are also new lace pull handles so it is easier to tighten your boots, and the lace material is dramatically stonger than in previous years. Not massive changes, but they are definitely a better boot than in years past!"

Thanks guys.. Kind of disheartening that Ronix would sell these bindings for 2 years without changing them sooner. It's not like this is an isolated incident, and clearly a design defect. :/

On that note then has anyone tried to get ronix to warranty them?

tried, but seeing as the tongue appears to ALWAYS wear, they'd have to replace every pair of boots they make, so they basically laugh at you.
