Hey everyone,

New to the Malibu brand. Just sold my 09 X7 and purchased a 2010 VLX. Only had it out 2 times now and once was the water test... So far I really like it. Seems like I can ski behind it, wake of course is awesome and best of all... We can surf the boat.

We have the LS3 in it and after taking it out, I think I am gonna like the power. I just wonder how it is on fuel...

I am from the Calgary Alberta area.

Welcome to the crew! No go out and surf some more before it freezes over! :)

Here in Texas I'm looking forward to two more months of wetsuit-free surfing, just to rub it in. :P

:plus1: or at least 2 months of being out on the water... :surprised:

I have a 2010 LXI with the LS3...great engine....although we had to play with the prop situation to improve the hole shot...I am 6'-4" and 225. But after getting that dialed in, it runs great. Way better than the HH we had in our 2007. Although, just for grins and giggles, I would be cool like to see what the LSA engine would be like in the LXI!!! Or better yet, in my old 90 skier!!

Tough to measure gas mileage, athough I know I burn about 25% more in the LXI as compared to going out and skiing the same with my skier. There is a reason they put bigger gas tanks in them. The skier has a 28-30 gallon tank, while the LXI is 40 ish.

I have not seen another LXI out on the lake to compare with, but don't think you'll see any significant improvement over the monsoon. In fact the monsson probably has a slightly better hole shot, while the LXI seems to perk up at about 1500+ rpms. So if side by side, the monsoon may have a slight advantage 0-15 or 20, but then on the LS3 will pull longer and harder than the monsoon. As with stereos, you can never have too much power!!

Indmar sent me a comparison/power curve of the monsson vs the LS3. I can send it to you if interested. Just let me know your email address.
