We are headed out to Powell for the first time this next weekend. We are putting in at Bullfrog and plan to camp. From what I read there are first come first serve sites. I think we plan to get a site or just sipmly find a place to camp on the shoreline if everything is full. We would love to get any information you could give us if you are well versed in Lake Powell.

I am actually heading out to bullfrog this afternoon. I have never camped at the sites at bullfrog, but it is very busy around the marina and you will only find good water at the crack of dawn. We were there last year around labor day weekend and we had to drive by boat quite a ways to find a spot. You can camp anywhere you want down any of the canyons but there are no services so be prepared. You will want to make sure you camp down a canyon so that you are protected if/when a storm comes up. It gets really nasty out in the main channel when it storms or is really windy. The other thing you will want to consider is that the further away you get from the marina the less park rangers you are going to see. The closest canyon is called moki canyon and it is always swarming with rangers pulling boats and jets skis over left and right especially on a holiday weekend. Maybe we will see you down there, we have an 02 orange and black VLX.

We are driving from Austin TX on friday and meeting my brother and sis inlaw there Saturday. Its to far of a pull for us so we will be on his 2012 all black moomba lsv. Thanks for the info. So the rangers are pretty tuff on people? I think we have plenty of goodies for camping but I am a little worried about fuel. My bro likes to mainly surf so we will be going through the gas. Will we need to come all the way back to bullfrog for fuel when needed?

A great place to car camp in Bullfrog is stanton creek. Its right on the water. Beachfront. Good shelter for storms and close to the marinas. We camped in July and had a great time!! Moki canyon is beautiful but crowded. Im jealous. Have fun!!
