Just got an Acme 1939...my impressions

My previous (and now backup) prop is an Acme 381, stock prop for the boat. Top speed was 47.6MPH (Stargazer GPS) at around 5400RPM.

With the 1939, exact same top speed - which I thought was a bit odd - but at a hair under 5800 RPM. Depending on how smooth the water was I did slightly hit the 5800 RPM rev limiter once or twice.

Power seems way up with this prop. Much better hole shot and at any speed below 40MPH I seem to be giving a lot less throttle, though RPM's are up a couple hundred. Not sure how that equates to fuel consumption yet, though my guess is similar fuel consumption.

I've only surfed with it so far but I'm very happy with the prop for surfing. Wake seems slightly cleaner even though I was running lighter than normal yesterday. My wife tends to be a little conservative on take-off when surfing; she took off with the same amount of throttle as normal but the pull was better on my end because of the prop.

Idle speed is around the same as well, about 4.4 - 4.6MPH.

Overall, this seems to be the ideal choice for this hull.

Good review, glad to see you like it. Thinking that is the one I am going to go with as well, but will wait until winter to do it.
