Head unit issues

I have a sony head unit in my boat. Last week, I went to turn radio on after sitting for a while and there was no power at all to the radio. After, I got home, I realized that the 10 amp breaker was bad. I put a new one in and all worked well. Yesterday, we put the boat in and I went to turn the radio on. It was powered up, but none of the buttons worked. I could however control it with the remote under dash so we were at least able to listen to music. I just wasn't able to adjust the settings to make it sound worth a crap. What do you guys think the problem is? you think I just need to buy a new head unit? Thanks in advance.

Does it have a removable face plate? If so, check the contacts - it isn't uncommon for a faceplate to only make partial contact, where the display works, the unit powers on, but the buttons won't respond. Otherwise, you can try to disconnect the remote to see if it is causing the issue. Beyond that, try a hard reset if that function is available on the head unit. Or you may just be SOL and have to replace the unit. I'm not a fan of any Sony mobile audio (nothing but bad experiences with their stuff), so I personally would go with a different brand.

It does have a removable faceplate. I will take a look at the contacts and also try unhooking the remote. It was in the boat when I bought it a couple months ago. An upgrade is probably in the near future anyway.

Thanks
