An 08' Monsoon is a very different engine than yours.

I run Mobil 1 10W30 in my boat with the same engine your running. Any good quality 10W30 will work for you. I would recommend Mobil 1 or Castrol.

Thanks martin. I was wondering if all that talk applied to my old engine. I am currently running 10W40 Castrol syntec. I wonder about running 20W50 though because when I let off the throttle the oil psi drops from 60 to 40.

Your 10W40 is fine. A small drop in oil pressure as the RPM of the engine decreases is to be expected since the oil pump simply isn't spinning as fast. 40lbs is still a very health oil pressure.

The manual for your boat/engine should show a number of oil options...you can even run a straight 30w, specially during the summer months.

I am sure there are folks who are up on oil, but I have read where any additive added to make it a mutli viscosity takes away from the lubricating ability of the oil...not sure if that applies to the newer sythetics...With that said I ran, I think it was 15w-50 Mobil one in my 350, had 975 hours on it and had not problem...

people always fret over the oil, but often neglect the oli filter...there are some pretty crapping ones out there.

If you are going to get a good oil for the boat, get an equally good quality oil filter.

Good call. That and change it every 50 hours.
