Hey guys, i know this has been talked about before on here but I'm about to purhase some sacs and want to make the right decision. I have a 98 Sunsetter VLX and I am wanting to get as big of a sac as i can in the rear compartments. I know the ProX V-drives would fit but I know that alot bigger sac will fit back there. I have been debating buying custom sacs or using the ProX 750 sacs and just not filling them up all the way. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I have the 750 and can fill it up most of the way. Greatly improves the surf wake. It does max out the locker and then some.

My advise is to buy it and the tsunami pump works great!

The 750s should work great.

I've been looking at the ProX and the Tsunami pump and do think that they are the best out there. I've been thinking of getting a sack and pump for the bow.

Yeah, please update the thread if you get the 750's. I have a '99 vlx, and I'm thinking about getting those for the back. I have the Pro X v-drive sacs, but without a wedge, I need a little more weight back there. Btw, the Pro X sacs rock!

And if you want a Tsunami pump, you can save some $$$ by going this route:

I bought 6 for my auto-ballast install.

Juice,

Tell us more about what you did with the "threaded" Tsunami pumps from Bass Pro... (the price is great)

Did you install through hull, and then run a tube directly to your sacs? Also, did you add a toggle to turn on and off, or does the less expensive pump allow for that?

I just bought three proX sacs and a tsunami to weight my VLX and would like to make it easier.

Thanks for any feedback,

Mook

I think with the Tsunamis you'll have to have two pumps (one to fill and one to drain) per line. They are directional and I think some of the more expensive pumps allow you to get by with one BICBW...

Anyone have pics of the 750 in a VLX locker? I'm making the same decision as the OP, and I was leaning toward the v-drive sacks because I thought the 750 would be too much.

Just ordered (2) 750lbs. 20x20x50 as soon as I get out on the water with them I will take some pics of them in the rear locker of our lsv.

Hey Mook,

I'm still in the process of hooking everything up, but I do have it designed. Basically, each sac will have a fill and empty pump. The threads on the pumps are 1 1/8", which is an odd size and hard to find. So on the fill pump, I added a PVC fitting that downsizes the threaded/intake end to 1". This screws into a manual shutoff valve, and the valve threads on a thru-hull. I'm going to attach the other end of the pump to a 1" hose using the barb fitting that comes with the pump. The attach the hose to the bag.

The empty side is easier. Put a barb end addaptor on each side of the pump, run a hose from the bag to the pump, and another from the pump to an above water thru-hull.

I'll wire everything together and use rocker switches that I'll mount on the dash. Should be good to go once it's all done. I'll post pics after I get started. Should be in a week or two.

They'll fit fine, go for it. They might be just a little bit long (not much at all), but the one run that we did with ours worked well. The surfing wake that resulted was AWESOME!!

Wakegirl, did you design how you are going to plumb them into the factory system yet? I'm thinking that I'm going to have to purchase a couple for my new VLX for surfing, but maybe I should wait and see what the power wedgedoes first.

I have not figured it out completely yet. I'm waiting for my pumps to get here & I'll go from there.

What are you thinking?

I have also been putting some thought into this. My older son likes to run with the extra weight. But, I had the hassle of doing it. I would love to be able to quick connect a sack in the rear storage and have it plumbed into the factor system.

I thought of maybe using a valve (electronically switched) to redirect the water into and out off the extra sacks. Then just hit the switch to fill up the extra sacks after the factory ballast is full.

Any thoughts?

Maybe we should move this to another thread?
