Skiing on Maliview - Speed or RPM?

While slaloming, should I use the Speed mode or the RPM mode on the cruise control? I feel like RPM would be more accurate but I've never tried it before. Or does it really make a difference?

i use the speed setting, because that is consistent with boat weight, skier pull, etc.

The RPM setting will cause a slower pull with more people / fuel / gear in the boat - so it will vary outing to outing

With the skier pulling hard across the wake the speed will change during the run.

On my VTX I find that speed control surges too much at skiing speeds.

Rpm doesn't surge, however we are free skiers so while you can set an rpm to achieve your desired speed, the moment the skier starts cutting hard back and forth the boat will just lose speed.

Same issues with rpm and head winds or tail winds.

We use speed mode for wake boarding and drive our skiers manually.

I am seriously considering upgrading to PP or zero off.

Can anyone advise what system would work best on my 2010 VTX??

We don't ski the course so don't need all the bells and whistles.

I course ski, however not with this boat. With that being said, I still would not want the speed to change mid pull while free skiing and get thrown off balance.

It sounds like people are saying to use RPM when there's no one in the boat but the skier and maybe a spotter, but to stick with speed when there's a lot of people/gear?

Edit: correction, people are saying stick with Speed; RPM will not compensate for the skier pull.

I use speed. RPM will not compensate for skier pulling the boat speed down. I can pull 1 to 11/2 MPH out of the speed on RPM. I stay within 1/2 MPH on speed.

We are skiing at 36MPH at 35 off. We only have 1 to 3 people in the boat. I am not using Maliview I am using Bu's speed control We are also just aggressive open water skiers we don't have a cores any moor.

I find some of these comments pretty funny. Perfect pass is widely ragarded to give the most skier-friendly pull available, much better than o off, and perfect pass is RPM-based of course, not speed. You cna run 16.95s all day with perfect pass rpm based and yes you'll see plenty of speed fluctuation. Holding a "perfect" 34.2 (or whatever speed) is NOT skier friendly.
