surf 360's on a surf style board not skim board......any tips?

I need to really work on my 3s. I can get full rotation but I loose a lot of speed and the rotation feels slow. I am riding a surf style board (xxx slasher) I have taken off the larger fins and replaced with smaller fins and this has helped a ton.

Does anyone have any advice or hints on this one? I ride with the same guys everytime and while non of us have it perfected the other guys are far better than I am (they ride a skim board though)

Go out wide go ahead and grab the rope from behind. The trick for me is I turn early not at the top of the wake. I'm fully rotated by the time I'm at the top of the wake. If you are talking without the rope good luck I'm not even close but trying.

All I can say is keep practicing. I think it would be hard to explain how to do it on your certain boat beacuse the wave shape and size all play a part on where I'm going to spin the trick. After two years of practicing I ride them out quite often on my XXX Slasher. I know it doesn't help much but that's my advice. Good luck!

Ok did my first 360 on my Walker Board, and road away!! Started way back, and pumped up some speed, shot down the wake and then turned into it, coming back down and riding on..The speed was the trick,

More ballast is the key longer wake will give you more time and fins on the board don't matter I can spin a 3 10' back and still keep up just keep practicing you will get it also don't put your back foot all the way to the back of the board keep it up a bit. This will take some pressure off the fins and also help you keep speed to keep up with the boat !! Board does help but I can do it on all of my boards from 5' 10 " down to 4'4"

I'm right with Ruff...I can get all the way around and either end up on the wrong side of the wave or too far back. I like the more speed and start the turn wider options. I'm going to have to try that with my Slasher. I hit one Sun that I should have been able to ride out. I ended up on top of my wave and if I could have got the edge of the board into the face I would have been golden....would have.

I'm riding a Walker signature 4'2 and am now landing about 9 out of 10 360's. The trick for me was to stop trying so hard and not carry too much speed. I find it easiest if you learn to first do a backside stall on the wave. Even if you lose the wave just the feeling of turning the board neutral and slowly riding back on the wave. Once that is learned just go from the backside stall and just complete the turn. I find my best 360's are the ones where I don't try to spin fast. Most of the 3's I miss now are just because I'm having too much fun on the backside stall and don't complete the spin in time.

So no hand in the wave for you?
