Tower Lights Switch

Recommended Posts

Am building a light bar that will hold 4 Piaa 1451 lamps (2 forward 2 rear facing),

but I cannot decide on the switch I need for this.

Do I need:

1) on-off-on (front-off-rear) or

2) on-off-both (front or rear on-off-both).

If option 2 do I need the front or rear to be independant?

I'd go with option two and have front-off-both. You could use the front only when docking or driving on the trailer at night and minimize the glare from having all the lights on.

In that configuration I'd run separate relays for the front and back....just have both sides of the switch wired to the front relay.

Glad to see someone has taken over for Tom. :)

Cervelo, before you get to far into the project have you checked to see what the light pattern is like. A lot of the standard fog lights aren't very focused and cause a lot of glare off the hull. FWIW

I got the lights at the cadillac dealership for a good price :) ($220cd=$180us per pair) cause they owe me for the problems I am having with my cts. Cry.gif

WhiteVLX, check this link http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/LightAimingGuide.html

I don't know anyone that is using them but am mostly going with, the piaa's are the most expensive (best??) lights out there and besides it throws an amber beam which will match my yellow boat.

Cervelo,

Please post some pics of your finished light bar.  Those lights should be awesome.

Will do, It is a pretty simple setup. I have two MB quartz speakers on the titan that are affixed with the usual machined aluminum clamps. I tapped two holes into each clamp and attached an aluminum bar (powercoated black) (1.25x.25x36 inches) between the 2 speaker clamps and will attach the lights to this bar when they come in. The bar is secured independant of the speakers so the speakers can be removed without the need to take down the light bar, just needed slightly longer hex bolts for the speakers.

Mark, I have an appointment with you tomorrow at 10:30 to have my trailer inspection done at your dealership. Look forward to meeting you.
