Oil change questions

Recommended Posts

I'm sure these questions have been posed before but I'm not good a searching old topics.

I have a 2011 with a 350 Monsoon. Will the oil drain at a descent rate or do I need a pump?

Also should I use "Marine" oil or just regular oil? Owners manual says to use penzoil mairine15W-40. I plan on changing it again at the end of the season (in 30 or so hours).

Thanks in advance for your help.

on the pump... you will open up the tastes great/less filling debate... both sides have their opinions. A pump will speed up the process but is not necessary. I own a pump as it also required to drain the transmission and v-drive which you should/need to do the same time as the oil. I have used the pump on the oil and have also let is drain.. based on my planning... for me the best way is to let it self drain overnight... many here can have the oil self drain in 10-15 minutes... if I didn't plan ahead I use my pump connected to the drain line with a 1/4" NPT to barbed fitting.

Oil type... oil type is like asking the best football team... for me I follow the manual (my engine is SAE40)... use 15W40... does not have to be pennzoil but does need to match the spec. The spec is for a diesel oil so lots of choices available.. pick your favourite.
