Power wedge actuator from Lenco concern

Recommended Posts

Good day all....I am going to try and not ramble, but I was driving during the conversation with my marina boat guy, and I am not sure I got all the facts correct.

Has anyone else had issue with replacing the actuator on their older malibu boats (I have a 2008). The reason I am asking is that I was told they are phasing out the actuators on the older boats, and either you have to do a retro-fit with a whole bunch of changes, or find the older part. In finding the older part, I was told that Lenco is only selling directly to Malibu as a support for older boats, but no longer selling them to the consumer.

Something about a 3 lobe vs a 5 lobe. The reason I am asking is that I can see the 3 lobe on bakes, and just wondering if I am being fed a load of bull......

Thanks in advance.

I did the same as well on my 07 VLX. Got the 2 parts, installed in the driveway. I actually was able to easily pull the cables thru the hull - so no soldering outside at all. It was pretty easy. I used boot lube to get them back thru. The only hiccup I had was that I didn't lower the wedge first. The gauge was very confused - so I had to hookup the old ones (electrically) 'drop' the wedge, then hookup the new (electrically and physically) and then go from there. A few bolts on top to get the wedge back in the right spot, and saved a bunch of $.

Whether or not Lenco is phasing these out, I don't know. I doubt it - I suspect they are used on more than just malibu boats.
