First Malibu - 87 Sunsetter

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I've been looking at these forums for awhile now and I finally bought my first boat about a month ago, an 1987 Malibu Sunsetter, so I thought I'd share.

Needs some restoring but over all runs pretty good. Already replaced the rudder stuffing box, distributor, re-did the teak, and put in a new stereo system.

Looking to add a tower here soon, any suggestions on which one would look the best? Also I'll be replacing the entire floor/carpet and upholstery over the winter.

I've attached some pics, let me know what you think!

If you've been cruising the forum for a while, I'm sure you've seen posts by MartinArcher. He has probably one of the nicest examples of that boat you'll ever see. He also knows everything you'll ever need to know about customizing it or tricking it out. Search through some of his posts for some light reading.

Oh for sure. He actually helped me in step by step install the new rudder stuffing box (thanks by the way). His boat sure is amazing.
