Heater Craft Low Heat Tube

Wake My Day

Recommended Posts

I received my new Heater Craft low RPM heater pipe today and I had a question for anyone else who has installed this product. The large pipe is 1 and a quarter by 5/8, to accomondate the raw water intake and the water to the heater. My issue is that my pipe only has a very small hole drilled through the body of large pipe. I was expecting possibly a 1/2 inch hole to allow water to flow to my engine not a small 1/8 inch hole. Is this normal???

that large pipe should be open to the full 1 5/8" straight through so that the engine does not see any restriction on the amount of water it can pull.

the small tube (with the very small (1/8"-ish iirc) hole), that pulls water through the heater, is intended to restrict the flow.

that wag on the hole size is from the deep recesses of my memory (more than a few weeks ago) so don't fret too much if i'm off by a bunch.

i know a lot. i just can't remember it.

edited grammar.

It is normal. It doesn't take much to circulate the water through the heater core, also, you don't want too much hot water recycling back into the impeller as this source of water is expecting a cool, raw water source

Thanks guys, It looked like a production mistake, but after reading your posts, I see that as long as some water is moving it works and if the hole is small the water will be slow to circulate increasing the heat at idle.

Thanks again
