Tucson Area People

My little sister is starting her residency in Tucson this summer and will be there for the next three years. Wondering if anyone from the site lives down there and knows of any decent lakes or clubs in the area. She and her fiancee mostly slalom but I'm sure they'd take any water time they could get. Anything close or are all the good lakes several hours away?

Hate to break it to you but there is nothing down there that I am aware of. My son attended U of A and even had a small group of boarders and skiers in a "club". He even had some backing from the school for a boat and equipment, but the closest place to practice was at Firebird Lake, which is almost in Phoenix. An hour and a half drive. Needless to say they kind of drifted apart as a club.

They even had t-shirts that had the school name on it and the phrase "Our Drinking Team Has a Wakeboarding Problem" on the back just for fun.

Good luck.

Used to live in that area and there is a very small lake near Nogales prob about and hour from Tucson, it's called Patigonia Lake it's nothing to write home about but you can still have fun on it. The other places are near Phoenix, the Firebird raceway has a small place to practice but I don't know how much it cost. There are lakes north of Phoenix, Pleasent Lake and Canyon Lake which are about and hour drive from the Firebird raceway area, there is another lake north of Phoenix as well but can't remember the names. These are gonna be the closest lakes to the Tucson area.

In keeping with the theme of "my little sister is a lucky little chit," she's already befriended a surgeon at her hospital who lives on a private ski lake and has invited her to come out anytime she wants to...

I live here in Tucson, it sucks. You have to travel to get on the water. 2 hours north to the Phoenix area where there are a chain of lakes (Sahuaro, Canyon, Apache, and Roosevelt) and also Lake Pleasant. All (except Roosevelt and Apache) within 30 minutes of Phoenix.

Tell her to make a trip up to Lake Powell (about a 5-6 hour drive). The most amazing lake in the world!
